Two-dimensional numerical simulations of a shell-shielded target driven by an intense co-axial heavy ion beam

چکیده
The study of matter under pressures of several Mbar and compressed to several times solid density is of great interest to different interdisciplinary sciences. Many studies have been performed in relation to astrophysics phenomena and high-energy-density mater studies. As early as 1935 it was theoretically predicted that hydrogen at a pressure of 0.25 Mbar should experience a phase transition from an insulator to a metallic state. Modern estimates suggest that this phase transition should occur at a density around 1 g/cm, temperatures below a few thousand Kelvin and at pressures of the order of a few Mbar.

Three-Dimensional Numerical Simulations of the LAPLAS Target Including Elastic-Plastic Effects
The LAPLAS experimental scheme (beam-target geometry) is shown in Fig. 1. It is a multi-layered target that consists of s solid cylinder of frozen hydrogen that is enclosed in a cylindrical shell of a high-Z material like Pb or Au. One face of this target is irradiated with an intense ion beam that has an annular focal spot whose dimensions are chosen in such a way that the hydrogen is not dire...

Introduction: Nowadays, the use of heavy ion beams in cancer therapy have been developed worldwide. Materials and Methods: It requires accurate understanding of the complex processes of ion interaction with matter, as it is the calculation the relative dose & range of these ions in matter. In the present study we used FLUKA as a numerical Monte Carlo simula...
متن کاملModeling of brightness temperature under intense heavy ion beam loading of target
HIHEX experiments at GSI-Darmstadt are carried out for investigation of material properties and processes in matter under intense heavy ion beam loading. In these experiments [1, 2], a heavy ion beam of U with an initiation energy of 350AMeV was used to irradiate a lead foil with a thickness of 250 μm. The temperature of the expanded part of the foil was measured by a pyrometer through the tran...
متن کاملSimulations of HIHEX Experiments at FAIR Using Porous Material
Heavy Ion Heating and Expansion (HIHEX) technique [1, 2] has been proposed to study the equation-ofstate (EOS) of high-Energy-Density (HED) matter using intense uranium beam at the future Facilit for Antiprotons and Ion Research (FAIR) [3]. Previously we considered solid material for such studies whereas in the present work we use porous targets that are heated by the above ion beam. Numerical ...
